FANUC America, the leading supplier of robotics, CNCs and ROBOMACHINEs has expanded its line of easy to use collaborative robots to include six models. Look for FANUC at Amazon’s re:MARS Tech Showcase (June 4-7 in Las Vegas) where we’ll demonstrate how easy it is to program and use a FANUC CR-7iA collaborative robot.

FANUC’s series of power and force limiting collaborative robots can handle 4-35 kg payloads and a 550-1813 mm reach. Easy to program and use – even for those with little or no experience – FANUC’s cobots are equipped with FANUC’s iHMI intuitive touch screen user interface that includes step-by-step programming instructions right from the teach pendant. Simple and straightforward programming helps reduce costs associated with operator training, minimizes setup time and increases system productivity. In addition, FANUC’s Hand Guidance feature allows operators to teach a collaborative robot by leading it through paths at the press of a button and/or use it to lift heavy objects manually.

FANUC’s six cobot models combine world-renowned automation technology, proven reliability and very sensitive built-in sensors that allow them to work safely alongside people in a variety of industrial/manufacturing jobs including machine tending, dispensing, inspection, kitting, palletizing, e-commerce, and more. In addition, FANUC’s collaborative robots are equipped with intelligent options such as iRVision® and force sensing.

“We offer the industry’s widest range of collaborative robots in terms of payload, reach and speed options,” said Amanda Nixon, collaborative robot product manager, FANUC America.  “In addition, our cobots are very easy to program with FANUC’s Hand Guidance or the iHMI touch screen, and provide easy plug-and-play for intelligent options like vision and force sensing. No other cobot brand in the world can offer what FANUC provides to our customers, including lifetime product support.”

EtherCAT Reaches 88 Million Nodes – Strong Growth Despite Difficult Market Conditions

EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) now reports around 88 million EtherCAT nodes worldwide and even if the pace of growth in recent years could not be maintained due to the current global economic climate and the after-effects of chip overstocking, the result is impressive: another 11 million EtherCAT nodes were added in 2024 – an outstanding result in a challenging business environment. These node figures are very reliable as they are based on actual chip sales, which are reported by the chip manufacturers to Beckhoff Automation, the inventor of EtherCAT technology. “And they have no interest in exaggerating these figures, as this would entail additional costs for them,” explains Martin Rostan, Executive Director of the EtherCAT Technology Group. With EtherCAT, the technology license is included directly in the chip, so there are no additional license fees for device manufacturers and users. Beckhoff uses the license revenue to finance the activities of the EtherCAT Technology Group and thus the ecosystem surrounding the technology.
