Nexans Welcomes Industry Minister Mélanie Joly & Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, to Their Copper Rod Mill in Montreal

Last Thursday, October 29, Nexans welcomed Industry Minister Mélanie Joly and Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, to their copper rod mill in Montreal, Canada’s only copper rod mill, founded in 1931. Copper cathode comes from the refinery next door which Nexans turn it into a rod and that rod becomes finished cable at their plants in Fergus, Weyburn and Trenton. From rod to reel they are Canada’s only vertically integrated wire and cable manufacturer. For the utilities, contractors and project teams who count on them, it means they are a reliable partner. To get cable where it’s needed, when it’s needed so projects keep moving.

Opportunities NB: Governments Support Modernization of MQM Quality Manufacturing

The provincial and federal governments are supporting the modernization and expansion of MQM Quality Manufacturing in Tracadie with combined investments of nearly $4.4 million. Through Opportunities NB, the provincial government will provide up to $875,000 for the purchase and installation of an automated steel production line, including an integrated robotic fabrication and welding system. The performance-based contribution will be provided in stages as production milestones are met.

ATS Industrial Automation Supports Record-Setting Milestone on Bruce Power Reactor Refurbishment

ATS Industrial Automation, in partnership with Bruce Power, is celebrating a major milestone in nuclear refurbishment technology following a record-setting achievement during Bruce Power’s Unit 4 Major Component Replacement (MCR) project. Leveraging ATS’s Automated Calandria Tube Installation (CTI) tooling, the project team at Bruce Power successfully completed the installation of 480 Calandria Tubes during Unit 4’s MCR outage which was completed with a high degree of quality and 25 days ahead of the same milestone in Unit 3, setting yet another record in CANDU refurbishment history.
