PEP Ecopassport Certification: Environmental Declaration Specifically Designed for Electrical, Electronic & HVAC-R Products
ABB’s DPA UPScale ST UPS systems have received PEP (Product Environmental Profile) Ecopassport certification, which is an environmental declaration aligned with the ISO14025 standard, specifically designed for electrical, electronic, and HVAC-R products.
The certification is supported by a detailed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which quantifies environmental impacts from raw material extraction through manufacturing, transportation, usage, and end-of-life disposal.
The PEP Ecopassport is an international standardized environmental declaration, recognized in Canada, that includes verified data on:
- Emissions
- Energy consumption over the product’s lifetime
- Use of recyclable materials
- End-of-life management and recyclability

“The PEP Ecopassport certification, backed by a full life cycle assessment, provides the transparency and data our customers need to make informed choices” said Sébastien Surply, Head of Power Protection, ABB Electrification. “It further reflects ABB’s commitment to delivering critical power solutions that meet all of our customers’ requirements.”
These documents serve as key differentiators in sectors where environmental responsibility influences procurement decisions — including data centers, public institutions, healthcare, and large industry. They can be used to:
- Respond to ESG and procurement requirements during bidding processes
- Demonstrate ABB’s transparency and technical credibility in sustainability
The certification reinforces ABB’s commitment to providing reliable power solutions with measurable environmental performance, supporting customers with transparency when it comes to achieving their sustainability goals.
