Siemens Canada to Perform Energy Audit & Optimize Energy Use at Shediac Facility Including Improvement in Operating & Maintaining Building Management Systems
The Government of New Brunswick and Siemens Canada are partnering on an energy audit and optimization at the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre.
As part of a pilot project, Siemens will use traditional and digital approaches, including their Building X cloud-based software, to identify opportunities for improvement in operating and maintaining building management systems. The project is intended to optimize and restore performance of air handling units, heating, cooling and water systems, and lighting controls at the facility and monitor and sustain that performance going forward.
Any initiative that could identify potential cost savings for the province is a welcome one. On top of that, this audit of the correctional centre’s water, lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems can also ensure their operation is more efficient and environmentally sustainable.
Chuck Chiasson, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister
The department is investing in the project, which aligns with the government’s goal of ensuring its building systems are sustainable and energy efficient. If the initiative is successful, it could be applied elsewhere in the province to gauge and improve system efficiency.
Siemens Canada is proud to partner with the government of New Brunswick on this important pilot initiative. This project is an opportunity to support the expertise and leadership of the province’s infrastructure teams by providing additional tools and insights to enhance building performance and advance sustainability objectives.

Installation of equipment and software is expected to take place later this year.
In a LinkedIn post, Siemens Canada President and CEO, Faisal Kazi posted the following:
Siemens is very proud to partner with the Government of New Brunswick / Gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick on an energy audit and optimization pilot at the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac, NB.
By combining the deep expertise of the province’s infrastructure teams with Siemens’ technology, digital tools, and data-driven insights, we’re helping to identify new opportunities to improve building performance, increase energy efficiency, lower operating costs and support long-term sustainability goals.
This collaboration proves what is possible when government, technology partners, and local teams work together with a shared purpose. I’m looking forward to seeing this work get underway, and to the possibilities that it will unlock across the great province of New Brunswick.
