Moxa Whitepaper – How to Choose an Edge Gateway for Your IIoT Applications
SMC’s MXS and MXQ series are among the most popular precision slide tables used in industrial automation, prized for their high accuracy, rigidity, and versatility. Both series are designed for precise linear motion in compact spaces, but they differ in guide technology and certain performance characteristics. This comparison will help you understand their differences, strengths, and the industries where they excel.
Machine safety can be challenging, particularly when you need to pick a technology for your risk reduction strategy. In this article, four key concepts will be covered relating to safety interlocks that will help you fully understand the technology before you select a part number.
FANUC CORPORATION, a major global supplier of CNCs, robotics, and factory automation has recently announced the production of its 750,000th industrial robot, representing a record high point in the robotics industry.
Installation without a control cabinet makes sense anywhere where equipment or drives have to be supplied with energy, or signals have to be transmitted and processed, over long distances. It is particularly suited to large machines and systems and can be used anywhere where cabling from the central control cabinet to the field can sensibly be replaced with power bus solutions and fieldbus communication.
Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle AG is one of the market leaders for metalworking centers. The machines from Baden-Württemberg are used for production all over the world. They rely on Murrelektronik’s Cube67 modular fieldbus system for the electrical installation. It makes automation concepts leaner and faster and, by extension, more effective. Cube67’s Machine Option Management (MOM) is particularly advantageous for Hermle.
Daisy chaining refers to a wiring scheme in which several devices, such as power supplies, are connected directly in series. This type of wiring is also referred to as “looping through”. The English term “Daisy Chaining” is used colloquially, since the structure is vaguely reminiscent of a daisy chain.

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.
Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.

Most electromagnetic brakes work on a simple logic: apply current, apply braking. Remove current, release braking. For many industrial applications, conveyors, packaging lines, printing machines, this is exactly the right behavior. The brake engages on demand and releases when not needed. But for a significant class of machines, this logic is exactly backwards. Robots, vertical… Read More…

When selecting industrial electrical components, certification is more than a logo on a datasheet. A certification mark indicates that a product or component has been independently evaluated against specified requirements for its intended market. In North America, selecting products with the appropriate certification can affect regulatory acceptance, equipment certification, inspections and project completion. The key… Read More…
