New LOVATO Electric Contactors for 95 to 150A Motor Control Current

October 27, 2020

LOVATO Electric’s contactor range has been expanded with the introduction of a new frame size which covers motor currents from 95A to150A at 400V in a width of just 75mm. The new contactors are available in three-pole and four-pole versions. The latter is available either pre-assembled or for customer assembly by adding a fourth pole to the three-pole version, which greatly simplifies warehouse stock management.

The four-pole versions, which are often used in mains/generator switching applications, have an Ith/AC-1 current rating of 140, 160 and 165A.

The new construction size consolidates and expands the main benefits of the Orange contactor series, already available from 9 to 94A motor control current. Cabling is facilitated with double clamp power terminals and a 4 terminal coil which facilitates wiring from both top and bottom of the contactor itself. The coil is also available in an electronically controlled version that can be powered with either AC or DC voltage. This solution is particularly advantageous since it increases the unit’s operating range: just 3 types of coil are sufficient to cover applications from 20 to 250V (20…48V, 60…110V, 100…250V) and consumption in service is reduced to a few watts. The range also includes special contactors for switching power factor correction capacitors with power ratings up to 100kVar at 400V.

One of the stand out features of the new BF95…150 units is that they can be either fixed by screw or mounted on 35mm DIN rails thanks to their very robust construction, this feature is not generally available for contactors of this size.High quality plastics have been used to ensure conformity with EN60335 (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances. Requisite for industrial kitchens) and EN45545 (Fire protection for rolling stock). The contactors are cULus approved.
