WAGO’s Industrial Media Converter & ECO-Switch Help the Budget Conscious Connect and Communicate

WAGO’s two new automation products let WAGO help the budget conscious connect and communicate in a cost-effective way. The slim-designed, easy to install 16 port ECO Unmanaged Switch is perfect for small to medium-sized networks and helps save time and money during commissioning. The Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) media converter is the perfect alternative for those who need to communicate over long distances where fiber optics or DSL are not available.

Industrial Media Converter

The device is an industrial media converter with a 10Mbit/s RJ-45 Ethernet port (10 BASE-T) and a Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) port (10 BASE-T1L). The media converter enables Ethernet communication with a bandwidth of 10 Mbit/s with shielded twisted pair cabling over a maximum range of 1,000 meters (3,280 feet).

The automatic detection of the transmission rate (auto-negotiation) of the connected Ethernet device enables simple “plug & play” operation. The SPE cable is connected simply and quickly to a CAGE CLAMP connector with a lever. The use of Single Pair Ethernet significantly reduces the cost of integrating an Ethernet connection at long ranges. In particular, the use of existing cables can significantly reduce the costs of connecting decentralized Ethernet-capable sensors to an automation system.

Another application is the networking of distant Ethernet devices using two SPE Media Converters over a maximum distance of 1000 meters (3,280 feet). This application offers the possibility of substituting DSL modems or fiber optic connections. The compact design with mounting rail adapter enables simple installation in the control cabinet with high resistance to heat, vibration and shock. The device can be operated with the usual supply voltage of 24 VDC.

This unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch (852-1116) has 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports for easily setting up small- to medium-sized networks. Its slim design paired with a DIN-rail adapter simplifies installation in the control cabinet and provides high vibration and shock resistance. Additionally, automatic transmission rate detection (auto-negotiation) and automatic identification of the transmit and receive lines (Auto MDI-X) allow simple plug-and-play operation, saving time and money during commissioning.

Status LEDs, a redundant power supply and an alarm contact (configurable via DIP switch) increase the switch’s redundancy and diagnostic capabilities, providing higher operational uptime.

Features:

  • Wide supply voltage range: 12 … 48 VDC
  • Full compliance with IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u and 802.3ab standards
  • Non-blocking, store-and-forward switching
  • Auto-negotiation at all 10/100/1000 BASE-T ports
  • Auto-MDI/MDIX (crossover) at all 10/100/1000 BASE-T ports
  • Integrated address look-up table, supports up to 8000 absolute MAC addresses
  • Overvoltage and reverse voltage protection
  • Prioritization of Ethernet data packets (PROFINET protocol, EtherType=0x8892) per IEEE802.1p

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
