As the world advances toward decarbonization, industrial energy consumers are looking for solutions that go beyond renewable electricity alone. They are seeking reliable, high-temperature outputs created from sustainable (ie. non-fossil) energy sources. They are demanding flexible, always-on power. And, increasingly, they are turning to a promising innovation: Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Unlike traditional nuclear power plants that are massive, centralized, and built primarily for the grid, SMRs are compact, factory-built, and scalable. These characteristics make SMRs ideal for industrial facilities seeking on-site energy solutions that offer both carbon-free electricity, process heat, and more. From chemical plants to data centers to water treatment facilities, industrial companies are exploring SMRs as a multipurpose energy source. The thermal output of an SMR can drive high-temperature industrial processes, fuel hydrogen production, power desalination plants, and even support district heating systems. But tapping into this potential requires more than just advanced nuclear technology—it demands a sophisticated approach to automation and control.
To enable the transformation to a sustainable society and preserve resources, production of solar collector panels must be precise, highly efficient and cost effective. To achieve this, Absolicon and ABB have developed the world’s only complete solution for the mass production of concentrated solar collectors, in Absolicon’s factory in Härnösand, Sweden.
In the case of many industrial settings, the IIoT is considered the answer for numerous challenges. The connectivity that’s the result of it assists in efficiency, productivity, and profitability. When it comes to utilities, IIoT helps manage the demand, and for public infrastructure, it can help governments in delivering better services, which include public safety as well.
With their compact and uniform design, the splice boxes provide ample interior space for the secure connection of fiber optics. They are available in connection versions with 6x ST duplex, 6x SC duplex, 6x E-2000®- (LSH), or 12x LC duplex connections.
For utility workers such as linemen maintaining electrical lines or natural gas infrastructure one of the most critical, yet undervalued, tools of the trade have been headlamps. In low light conditions, these essential tools enable technicians to clearly view the task and surroundings under bright light while freeing up both hands.
Collaborative robots, or Cobots for short, can greatly enhance productivity and employee satisfaction by taking over dull, reparative, and dirty tasks that humans would rather not perform. Because these robots are designed to work safely around people, many manufacturers are under the impression that no further safety measures are needed. This is a misconception, however. Appropriate safety measures based on comprehensive risk assessments are still very important. In fact, safety is crucial to unlocking your cobot’s full range of capabilities and maximizing its performance, as this blog post will explain.

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.
Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.

Field termination of fiber optic cable connectors is nothing new, and while there have been various products to address field termination needs over the decades, the products discussed here are: field polish, mechanical splice, and fusion splice. Each of these has had time in the spotlight, and there are commonalities that hold true across all three. Chief… Read More…
