FANUC America and Rockwell Automation officially formed a coalition to kick off accelerated work and learn apprenticeship programs designed to upskill current and future workers for jobs in advanced manufacturing, robotics and automation.
ABB & SimGenics Collaborate on Simulator-Based Training for Nuclear Sector in North America
ABB has signed a MoU with SimGenics to support the development and provision of engineering, training and distributed control system (DCS) simulators for the nuclear energy industry, primarily in North America. The collaboration comes at an important time, with both Canadian and US governments implementing policy frameworks to stimulate the deployment of nuclear energy to generate electricity. Drawing on their collective expertise, the MoU will allow ABB and SimGenics to explore how they can support the greenfield power generation industry predominantly. This will include complete plant process model and simulation across conventional large nuclear power plants, small modular reactors (SMR) and advanced modular reactor (AMR) facilities. As well as being installed at offsite R&D centers for testing and validation purposes during the design stage, the simulators can also be used onsite at operational nuclear power plants as engineering and training systems.
Sonepar Enters into an Agreement to Acquire Robertson Electric Wholesale
Sonepar has recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Robertson Electric Wholesale. Founded in 1952 and headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario, Robertson Electric Wholesale has grown to be a highly respected electrical distributor across Canada with 19 branches and over 400 associates. “We look forward to partnering with Sonepar and the exciting opportunities it will offer our customers and associates. Our company was built on a customer-centric model, which will be strengthened with the knowledge and expertise Sonepar can provide to ensure our continued success,” commented Robertson Electric Wholesale President, Rick Campbell.
Emerson to Buy General Electric’s Intelligent Platforms Business
Emerson today announced it has agreed to acquire Intelligent Platforms, a division of General Electric (NYSE: GE). Intelligent Platforms’ programmable logic controller (PLC) technologies will enable Emerson, a leader in automation for process and industrial applications, to provide its customers broader control and management of their operations.

Tri-Mach Announces the Purchase of an Additional 45,000 sq ft. Facility
Recently, Tri-Mach Inc. was thrilled to announce the addition of a new 45,000 sq ft. facility. Located at 285 Union St., Elmira, ON, this facility expands Tri-Mach’s capabilities, allowing them to better serve the growing needs of their customers.

JMP Parent Company, CONVERGIX Acquires AGR Automation, Expanding Global Reach
Convergix Automation Solutions has completed the acquisition of AGR Automation (“AGR”), a UK-based provider of custom, high-performance automation design and systems integration primarily to the life sciences industry.
Following Convergix’s acquisitions of JMP Solutions in August 2021 and Classic Design in February 2022, AGR marks the third investment in Crestview’s strategy to build Convergix into a diversified automation solutions provider targeting the global $500+ billion market, with a particular focus on the $70 billion global systems integration and connectivity segments. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
