  • Reliable functional safety

System Architecture of the IO-Link Safety System

In the IO-Link Safety System, all components communicate via a standardized interface:

  • The IO-Link Safety Master connects the controller to the field level.
  • The IO-Link Safety field devices supply safe signals and diagnostic data, while safeguarding access points and danger zones.

All communication is transparent and seamless.

The Result: A fully integrated system that makes planning, commissioning and operation significantly easier.

Are you planning an IO-Link Safety project? Pilz’s experts can help you choose the right components.

An Overview of the Components in the IO-Link Safety System

  • IO-Link Safety Master: The first TÜV-certified IO-Link Safety Master PDP67 IOLS forms the interface to the safety controller and enables safe point-to-point communication up to field level.
  • IO-Link Safety Control Unit: The control unit PITgatebox IOLS communicates directly with the IO-Link Safety Master and, in addition to supplying safe signals, also supplies status and diagnostic data in real-time.
  • IO-Link Safety Light Curtain: The safety light curtain PSENopt II Advanced IOLS communicates directly with the IO-Link Safety Master and offers reliable access guarding.

The Master is used to connect IO-Link Safety devices such as the IO-Link Safety control unit and IO-Link Safety light curtains. The IO-Link Safety System uses 3-core, unshielded standard cable and up to 25 Bytes of data are transmitted in two directions, at up to 230.4 kbit/s. You will find this cable in the right lengths for your application in the Pilz portfolio. With the Pilz configuration tool you can configure and set parameters for the IO-Link Safety Master and devices.

Whether it’s safe operation, safety gate monitoring or electrosensitive protective equipment – the IO-Link Safety system from Pilz supports a diverse range of safety applications. The following examples provide an insight into typical application scenarios.
