Sonepar announced the inauguration of the electrical industry’s first Automated Cable Cut and Automated Storage and Retrieval System, (ASRS) in North America. This technology has been implemented into Lumen’s, a division of Sonepar Canada Inc., Central Distribution Centre (CDC) located in Laval, QC. “The new cable cutting automation enables Lumen to continue its primary business model, which is providing our customers with next day service,” said Lumen President, Serge Leblanc.
Hammond Power Solutions Inc. has completed the previously announced acquisition of assets relating to the operations of Micron Industries Corporation on October 7, 2024, a company based in the United States. The acquisition is structured as an asset purchase through HPS’ U.S. subsidiary. HPS will continue to operate the Micron Industries assets and continue to market the branded product offerings as previously sold by Micron Industries. “We are excited to welcome Micron Industries into the HPS family. Nouveau Monde Graphite has awarded ABB a contract to supply, construct and commission the 120kV substation for its Phase-2 Matawinie Mine in the province of Quebec, Canada, as part of the construction preparation for the establishment of a 103,000 tons per annum graphite mining and concentrator complex. Located 120 km north of Montreal, the Matawinie Mine will be connected to the provincial hydropower network, enabling the access to clean energy to support mining activities and concentrator production of carbon-neutral graphite concentrate destined for the lithium-ion battery market.
