ABB STAR TECK ST90 Fittings Provide Robust, Reliable & Efficient Solutions

In the fast-paced world of industrial automation and connectivity, the demand for robust, reliable, and efficient solutions continues to grow. A pioneer in teck cable fittings, the STAR TECK product line has set the industry standard for safety, quality, and ease of installation since the introduction of the 10464 fitting in 1953.

Engineers have continuously refined the design based on feedback from end-users working in the harshest and most corrosive environments, ensuring that STAR TECK fittings remain the benchmark for performance. Manufactured in Canada to meet the unique challenges of Canadian industry, the ABB ST90 series extends the Star Teck family by delivering a complete 90-degree cable termination solution. Built for reliability, quality, and safety, it upholds the legacy of innovation that has defined STAR TECK for decades.

Why Choose the STAR TECK ST90 Series?

1. Engineered for Performance

The ST90 Series TECK fittings are specifically designed for use with TECK cables, offering superior mechanical strength and environmental sealing. Their high-quality construction ensures they can withstand harsh conditions, including exposure to moisture, dust, and corrosive substances.

2. Simplified Installation

One of the standout features of the ST90 Series is its ease of installation. The integrated 90-degree design reduces the need for additional bends or adapters, simplifying cable routing in tight spaces. This saves time and effort for electricians, making installations more efficient.

3. Durable & Corrosion-Resistant

Constructed from high-grade aluminum or stainless steel, the ST90 Series provides excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal for industries such as mining, oil and gas, and heavy manufacturing. The robust construction extends the lifespan of the fitting, ensuring long-term reliability.

4. Secure & Code-Compliant

Safety is a top priority in electrical installations, and the ST90 Series meets all necessary CSA and UL certifications. These fittings provide a secure connection, minimizing the risk of cable damage or failure over time.

Features & Benefits

The ST90 Series is engineered to provide secure connections, ensuring optimal performance and safety in harsh environments. Here are some key features:

  • Superior sealing gasket for enhance ingress protection: Type 4, 4X and 6P
  • Locking striations prevent loosening of the fitting once installed while biting into enclosure to achieve better binding
  • Copper-free aluminum, hardened for higher strength
  • Power-Grip grounding ring
  • Dual bushing system for broader cable range

Faster & Simpler to Install

One-Piece Design

  • The three components shown in photo 1 – Star Teck fitting, rigid elbow and sealing gasket – are an integral part of the ST90 fitting’s unique, one-piece design (photo 2)

Less Space & Cable Required

  • Photo 3 shows the additional space and cable required to accommodate a minimum bend radius in a code-compliant installation. A cable terminated with an ST90 fitting has a bend radius that is 80% to 90% smaller than that of corresponding cables (photo 4).
  • Photo 5 shows a cable installation infringing on minimum bend radius as stipulated by the CEC (above).
  • Photo 6 demonstrates the same termination done with an ST90 series Teck fitting.

With less separate components to purchase and stock, ST90 fittings simplify product selection and SKU management. The Canadian Electrical Code stipulates when installing armoured cables, it’s required that the bend radius of the inner edge of the cable is no less than 6 times the external diameter of the cable. For shielded cables, the bend radius needs to be at least 12 times the external diameter as per the regulations.

Star Teck Fittings Selector App

Choosing the right Star Teck fitting has never been easier. With an intuitive digital tool available on desktop and mobile, users can quickly access a comprehensive database of Teck 90 cable specifications from multiple manufacturers—all in one place. This modern solution replaces traditional selector slides, streamlining the selection process.
