EM600 Series: Fast, Flexible & Future-Ready – The Evolution of Ethernet-Based Energy Monitoring

The EM600 Series represents a significant evolution in Carlo Gavazzi’s energy-metering portfolio, introducing dual Ethernet connectivity, fast data refresh, and an enhanced user experience designed for advanced industrial and building energy management applications.

Developed as the natural successor to one of Carlo Gavazzi’s top-selling products, the EM24 series, the EM600 features a modernized design with a 128 × 96 backlit matrix LCD display, an intuitive quick-setup wizard, and dual Ethernet ports that allow daisy-chain connections without external switches — all within a compact DIN-rail housing.

Designed for high-performance monitoring, the EM600 offers a 100 ms refresh time and supports both Modbus TCP/IP and a secure HTTPS REST API, enabling real-time data acquisition and seamless integration with PLCs, SCADA systems, and energy management platforms.

The EM630 B and EM640 B represent the first step in a new generation of Carlo Gavazzi energy meters — designed for fast communication, intuitive operation, and secure connectivity. In the near future, this family will expand with additional secure and flexible communication options, including next-generation wireless technologies and multi-protocol management.

Andrea Bernardi, International Product Manager at Carlo Gavazzi

Thanks to the quick-setup wizard, the UCS configuration software, and the UCS Mobile app for Android, commissioning is fast and intuitive. Support for DHCP, and mDNS enables automatic network discovery, ensuring true plug-and-play installation. SUNSPEC compliance guarantees interoperability with renewable energy and distributed energy resource (DER) systems. The EM600 Series also offers maximum installation flexibility through its self-powered architecture and multiple current input options: 5 A CTs, 333 mV sensors, or direct connection up to 65 A, depending on the model.

With the launch of the EM600 Series EM630 B and EM640 B, Carlo Gavazzi further strengthens its position as a complete provider of connected energy monitoring solutions, delivering industrial-grade performance on a future-proof platform ready to evolve with the growing demand for secure, high-speed, and wireless-enabled energy monitoring.
