Austrian automation specialist B&R has recently added Codian D2, D4 and D5 series robotics hardware to its automation portfolio. This provides users and machine builders with a solution for pick-and-place applications where robot and axis movements are synchronized with high precision. Codian robotics hardware can be integrated into any machine configuration with any controller.
Rockwell Automation has recently introduced FactoryTalk Analytics DataView 4.02, an update to its analytics portfolio to help customers make faster, more informed decisions. This new version is packed with features and enhancements that offer a more responsive and reliable experience, enabling users to focus on extracting valuable insights from data without interruptions.
The food processing industry has embraced automation, and indications are that its adoption in the food and beverage industry is expanding rapidly. According to a robotics report by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), in 2021, “the food and beverage industry installed 25% more robots, reaching a new peak level.” A reason for this growth, the report suggests, may be that the robotics industry offered hygienic solutions, which were in demand during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The cost-oriented PIANO PIC series includes 1-phase 24V and 48V DIN rail power supplies with 120W, 240W or 480W output power. The PIANO product family is focused on basic functionality without compromising efficiency, durability or reliability. For applications which are operated exclusively in areas, where no wide range input is needed (e.g. Europe, China or India) PULS offers units with an AC input voltage of 200-240V. These units are based on a simpler circuit design and less components, which allows further cost reduction.
AutomationDirect has expanded their safety products line with additional Comepi safety switches. This offering includes new, more robust solenoid locking tongue interlock safety switches and RFID-coded solenoid locking tongue interlock safety switches. All switches have a 1200N holding force and require the solenoid to be energized to unlock the switch. The RFID-coded models are uniquely coded for additional tamper resistance.
AutomationDirect has added LUTZE SUPERFLEX control cable that is well suited for short to medium length articulated drag chain (C-tracks) installations requiring moderate to high performance. The High Glide TPE insulation and PVC outer jacket provides resistance to sunlight, oil, and moisture penetration, and makes this cable suitable for indoor wet and dry applications or outdoor installations. Cables are available with conductors in 21 AWG to 12 AWG sizes, with up to 34 conductors including ground, and is made in the USA.
The modular industrial robot system ATRO (Automation Technology for Robotics) from Beckhoff was first presented to the public in 2022. Fast-forward to today, and more link modules are now being added to increase the flexibility of the ATRO system even further, including in the form of multi-arm robots. The standardized ATRO motor modules with integrated drive functionality are combined with link modules in different geometries, offering users the flexibility to set up a variety of robot kinematics.
The Multi Physics Box Condition Monitoring sensor allows for continuous condition-based monitoring of, for example, motors, pumps, conveyor systems or fans. It measures vibrations, shocks, and temperature, thereby providing indications of potential faults and machine failures. If the measured values exceed the individually configurable thresholds, an alert is output. For vibration values, the vibration monitoring thresholds for machines according to ISO 10816-3 can be implemented via a multi-stage alert.
MICO Fuse is an ideal alternative to using individual safety terminals. The compact module features eight sockets for glass tube fuses that can easily be serviced from the front of the module. It protects up to eight channels. The MICO FUSE 24 LED version has additional LEDs that indicate the operating condition of each channel in red and green. A group alarm contact sends the current status to the control. The universal module MICO Fuse 250 covers the complete range from 0 to 250 V AC/DC.

Rockwell Automation, Inc. has recently announced the release of a new line of graphic terminals that can help machine builders differentiate their machines and meet a wide range of application needs. The Allen‑Bradley OptixPanel is also compatible with FactoryTalk Optix software, providing visualization and maximum connectivity. New OptixPanel graphic terminals offer several design options. These options give machine builders significant freedom to customize based on factors like cost, performance, and look and feel.
AutomationDirect is pleased to announce the launch of several IEC and compact limit switches under the new house brand, AchieVe. These new AchieVe limit switches are available in a selection of sizes and styles. These limit switches offer a variety of actuator styles, including plunger, lever, and a new pull-action style that is activated when a cable (sold separately) attached to the switch is pulled. This pull-action actuator, offered in the ADM series, is useful for simple start/stop control or signaling applications.
AutomationDirect has added E-T-A REX modular electronic circuit protectors to their selection of circuit protection devices. These protectors safeguard electrical circuits from overcurrent, short circuits, and other faults. Featuring a modular design, individual protection modules can be combined to meet specific circuit protection requirements, allowing for flexible configurations and easy installation.
The standalone base unit is extremely compact at just 22.5 mm width. With eight freely configurable safe inputs and four safe semiconductor outputs, it monitors up to four safety functions on machines. Depending on the application, it can be used to implement safety requirements up to PL e of EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL CL 3 of EN IEC 62061. PNOZ m C0 is safe, high-performance and highly economical for small machines in a range of industries and application areas, such as packaging, on robot cells or in the food and beverage sector.
