OMRON’s VHV5-SRV Barcode Verification System Helps Manufacturers Move from Offline Sample Checks to Calibrated, Production-Speed Barcode Verification on the Line

OMRON Automation has released the VHV5-SRV Barcode Verification System, an inline verification solution designed to monitor barcode quality directly on the production line without slowing production.

The VHV5-SRV enables manufacturers to move from beginning- and end-of-run offline sample checks to calibrated, real-time verification during production. Instead of discovering barcode degradation, unreadable codes, or non-compliant marks after a batch, shipment, or customer rejection, quality teams can check each code as it is produced and correct issues earlier. For life sciences, pharmaceuticals, food, and commodities, this supports stronger traceability and barcode quality control. For automotive and aerospace manufacturers, VHV5-SRV addresses a long-standing gap in Direct Part Mark (DPM) verification by confirming barcode quality on the actual marked part in production, not only on an offline sample.

Key Capabilities:

  • 100% Inline Barcode Verification: Checks barcode quality during production to help reduce reliance on first/last-piece or interval-based offline sample verification.
  • Production-speed Inspection: Supports inspection up to 1,200 parts per minute to help maintain throughput while monitoring barcode quality.
  • ISO/IEC and GS1 Support: Supports verification to ISO/IEC 15416, ISO/IEC 15415, and ISO/IEC TR 29158, with support for GS1 syntax and data structure requirements.
  • Calibrated Verification Setup: Uses a third-party calibration card to support proper ISO/IEC verification rather than uncalibrated barcode grading.
  • Flexible Lighting Configuration: Supports internal or external lighting, including Direct Part Mark applications on curved or irregular surfaces.
  • Reader and Verifier in One Device: Enables manufacturers to add verification capability while replacing or upgrading an existing barcode reader.

VHV5-SRV is intended for production managers, quality engineers, engineering managers, and machine designers who need to protect barcode quality, traceability, and throughput. By combining reading and calibrated verification in one system, it helps manufacturers reduce the risk of unreadable or non-compliant barcodes leaving the facility without slowing the line.

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.

Techspan: Automotive Circuit Protection Products – A B2B Buyer’s Guide for Distributors

Automotive circuit protection is not a one-size-fits-all category, especially for distributors supplying repair shops, fleet operators, OEM channels, aftermarket installers, and industrial buyers. A part that works in one vehicle or electrical setup may not suit another, even when the category looks similar at first glance. For distributors, the real challenge is building stock that supports replacement demand, resale confidence,… Read More…
