KNX Bus Power Supplies Offer System Integrators & Building Automation Specialists Robust Power Supply Solutions

Phoenix Contact has expanded its portfolio of KNX power supply units to include a new 1,280 mA version that complements the proven 640 mA model. The KNX bus power supplies offer system integrators and building automation specialists robust power supply solutions.

KNX is a powerful and flexible standard for building automation. The protocol enables the seamless integration of various devices for controlling lighting, heating, air conditioning, blinds, safety and security systems, energy management, and more. The KNX Step Power power supply ensures smooth bus communication. It is the first KNX power supply with an active KNX choke. This adapts dynamically to the connected load of the KNX devices and increases the efficiency of the bus system up to KNX transmission of 1,900 mA.

Unlike the passive KNX chokes available on the market, the full capacity of up to 1,900 mA is ensured here without causing magnetic saturation, which would otherwise affect communication. In addition, the built-in color display provides all the relevant KNX status information at a glance. It does not just reflect the current system status, but also provides a wealth of information via the menu. This is used primarily for the setup, diagnostics, and extension of the KNX system.

This offers several advantages for users and system operators: The bus and AUX outputs can be analyzed separately, which makes it easier to pinpoint the cause of a fault. In addition, the device stores information on overload behavior over time, which can be viewed on the display. As soon as the KNX system has been reset, the runtime – but not the total device runtime – is reset to zero, allowing the exact time of a malfunction to be determined.

The wide range input with both AC and DC allows for worldwide use and compensates for mains fluctuations. KNX transmission is therefore unaffected. The expanded product range makes it easier to tailor power capacity to actual requirements, whether for an existing system or a new one.

Main Features

  • Easy diagnostics with the color display
  • Reliable communication up to 1,900 mA
  • Efficiency at nominal load of 230 V AC: > 89.5% (incl. choke)

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
