CIDEON Cloud CAD Integration – The New Connection to SAP

Cloud-based CAD applications are becoming a viable alternative to local CAD software environments. Even in an ERP context, cloud environments such as SAP S/4HANA and the SAP Cloud Platform form the central nerve system for intelligent company processes of the future. With the Cloud CAD Integration, Cideon is presenting a brand new solution that links the data from both of these system worlds, thereby optimising processes for product manufacturers. “The Cideon Cloud CAD Integration combines mechanical engineering data and structures – including modules and components from modern cloud-based CAD systems – with the underlying SAP S/4HANA through the SAP Cloud Platform,” says Cideon Vice President Software Development Rolf Lisse. “A connector links the design data from the OnShape CAD application with the data of the SAP ERP system, as an example. We can quickly and easily deliver effective long-term solutions based on the SAP Cloud Platform.” The advantage for users: cloud CAD data are available for all downstream SAP logistics processes and along the entire value chain.

Completely integrated

For even more efficient and forward-looking engineering, the Cideon Cloud CAD Integration expands cloud-based CAD applications by displaying relevant SAP product data, thereby providing even easier access to SAP for design engineers. “The data bridge is analogous to our traditional mechanical connections to SAP by way of a complete direct integration,” Lisse says. It makes creating and updating material master records for cloud CAD assemblies and parts lists based on structural data and parts lists from cloud CAD in SAP a very low-maintenance procedure – without manual intervention and without mistakes.

Foundation for smart processes

With Cideon’s cloud strategy, the engineering services provider gives manufacturing companies and SAP users long-term investment and planning security with regard to future-safe software technologies. By consistently expanding the solutions portfolio towards the cloud, Cideon is providing its customers with the foundation for coming technology changes and is creating the basis for the intelligent and networked processes of the future.

Background

Cloud-based CAD applications are becoming a viable alternative to local CAD software environments. The reason for this is relatively simple: modern cloud CAD fulfils traditional engineering requirements and also rises to the new challenges design engineers are facing in the era of Industry 4.0. In an ERP context, cloud environments such as SAP S/4HANA and the SAP Cloud Platform act as the central nerve system for intelligent companies of the future.

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
