Brock Solution Wins Inductive Automation’s Ignition Firebrand Award at ICC 2019

October 8, 2019

Inductive Automation, the makers of the industrial application platform, Ignition, presented Brock Solutions with the highly coveted Ignition Firebrand Award at the 2019 Ignition Community Conference last week. Brock Solutions was recognized with this award for its baggage handling system (BHS) replacement in the Dublin Airport T2 project.

Awarded annually, the Ignition Firebrand Awards recognize system integrators and industrial organizations that use the Ignition software platform to create innovative new projects.

“We believe this project represents the largest Ignition SCADA deployed for a baggage handling system at any airport anywhere in the world,” explained Mark Holbrook, Brock Solutions’ business unit manager for SmartSuite. “Approximately 100,000 tags, 26,000 alarms, 20 screens, 2,300 visual objects and 14 Siemens S7 PLC’s were converted.”

The previous BHS in Terminal 2 was custom developed by the original integrator of the system, thus making it very difficult and expensive to support, upgrade and modify when the need arose. Brock Solutions improved operations by implementing a solution comprising of SmartSort and Ignition to provide greater flexibility. SmartSort, a configurable baggage sortation solution, allows the airport to meet their future expansion requirements, while Ignition has given the airport a true off-the-shelf platform to expand in the future.

“Brock has proven themselves to be a flexible, innovative technology company and I look forward to continuing to build on this new, exciting platform for baggage systems management,” said Frances O’Brien, VP PMO daa IT, Dublin Airport Authority.
