ABB Energy Appraisals of Industrial Electric Motors Reveal Potential 2.1 Twh Lifetime Savings

From June to September 2023, ABB analyzed more than 2,000 industrial electric motors under its Energy Appraisal service and has identified an average energy saving of 31 percent. That equates to more than 2.1 terawatt-hours (TWh) of potential energy savings across the 20-year lifetime of these systems. Energy appraisals enable industrial businesses to pinpoint exactly where their biggest energy savings lie across fleets of motor-driven systems.

Schneider Electric has recently announced at its Capital Markets Day meeting with investors a $3 billion multi-year agreement with Compass Datacenters. The agreement extends the companies’ existing relationship that integrates their respective supply chains to manufacture and deliver prefabricated modular data center solutions. The skyrocketing generation and consumption of data, in large part due to the burgeoning AI market, requires a new breed of data centers that can be standardized in their design, manufactured efficiently, and delivered more quickly at a lower cost.

What is ISO 3691-4? ISO 3691-4, “Industrial trucks – Safety requirements and verification – Part 4: Driverless industrial trucks and their systems” is the most important international standard for automated guided vehicles (AGV) and vehicle systems (AGVS). It was published in 2020 and applies to manufacturers as well as operators. It defines the requirements (performance levels) of the safety functions of AGV and AGVS, such as the setup for the detection of persons, modes of operation and the braking system.
