ABB has recently announced that it has agreed to acquire Canadian company Real Tech, a supplier of innovative optical sensor technology that enables real-time water monitoring and testing. Through the acquisition, ABB will expand its strong presence in the water segment and complement its product portfolio with optical technology critical for smart water management. Financial terms of the transaction that is expected to close in Q1 2024 were not disclosed.

From June to September 2023, ABB analyzed more than 2,000 industrial electric motors under its Energy Appraisal service and has identified an average energy saving of 31 percent. That equates to more than 2.1 terawatt-hours (TWh) of potential energy savings across the 20-year lifetime of these systems. What is ISO 3691-4? ISO 3691-4, “Industrial trucks – Safety requirements and verification – Part 4: Driverless industrial trucks and their systems” is the most important international standard for automated guided vehicles (AGV) and vehicle systems (AGVS). It was published in 2020 and applies to manufacturers as well as operators. It defines the requirements (performance levels) of the safety functions of AGV and AGVS, such as the setup for the detection of persons, modes of operation and the braking system.

Rockwell Automation, Inc. announced October 2 that it has completed its acquisition of Ontario, Canada-based Clearpath Robotics Inc., a provider of autonomous robotics, including autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for industrial applications. The acquisition includes Clearpath Robotics’ namesake research division, a leader in developing autonomous technology for the innovation market, and the industrial division OTTO Motors, which provides AMRs, the next frontier in industrial automation and transformation.
