However, these systems are vulnerable to phase loss and phase imbalance, which can result in serious consequences like equipment failure, costly downtime, and safety hazards.
Die casting is a popular process for good reason. It produces castings quickly and consistently, with a high level of precision, and can minimize the amount of post-processing needed for the final product. The dies themselves, as well as the injection and processing equipment, represent a significant capital investment up-front—but for high-volume production, the efficiency gains are a clear win. Processes that hinge on this kind of precision and repeatability are excellent candidates for automation—in these cases, automated systems can act as a multiplier, creating efficiency gains at every step. Additionally, die casting involves high temperatures, pressurized molten metal, and other potentially dangerous materials that can represent a risk to worker safety. Introducing robots that can tolerate such conditions helps create safer and more comfortable work environments for human operators, and delays wear and tear on existing equipment.
The Littelfuse ESR series of fuses is designed specifically to protect battery racks in energy storage systems, inverters, and many other dc applications. The 1500 V dc high-speed square body fuse is extremely fast-acting to respond quickly to a range of fault currents to safeguard the battery module or other devices. This Class aBat partial range fuse provides highly effective short circuit protection and a low minimum breaking capacity (MBC)—from 300 % or 3 times the fuse’s rated current to 250 kA—to cover a range of over currents that traditional high-speed partial range fuses do not protect against. The ESR series fuse safely interrupts most faults in a battery storage system to avoid catastrophic failures and costly shutdowns.
The EL3443 EtherCAT Terminal enables the measurement of all relevant electrical data of the supply network and carries out simple pre-evaluation. The voltage is measured via direct connection of L1, L2, L3 and N. The current of the three phases L1, L2 and L3 is fed via simple current transformers. All measured currents and voltages are available as root-mean-square values. In the EL3443 terminal, the effective power and energy consumption for each phase are calculated. The RMS values of voltage U and current I as well as the active power P, apparent power S, reactive power Q, frequency f, phase shift angle cos φ and harmonic are available. The EL3443 offers extended functionality for mains analysis and energy management. In addition, the EL3443 comes with the option of transmitting the time of the last voltage zero crossing to the controller via XFC technology. This can be used, for example, to carry out switching operations to suit the application. The EL3443 can be ordered for other current ranges, such as 5 A, 100 mA or 333 mV.
