New GLCM Type Motorized Changeover Switches: Innovative, Reliable & Easy to Install

LOVATO Electric launches the new motorised changeover switches type GLCM, a solution that combines innovation, reliability, and ease of installation. These switches are designed to automatically switch between a primary power line and a secondary emergency line, ensuring continuity of supply for priority loads.

They are used across a wide range of applications, from the industrial sector, such as power supply for production lines or fire protection systems, to the tertiary sector, where they ensure uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructures like airports, subways, and hospitals.

The range includes three-pole and four-pole versions, available in cULus approved versions in compliance with UL1008 standards with general use currents of 100A and 200A, and in IEC versions with currents from 125A to 315A (AC33B).

Overview

The new GLCM motorised changeover switches are available in three variants, differentiated by the motor power supply voltage: 24VDC, 110-125VAC/DC, and 208-277VAC. This versatility, combined with the wide operating range, allows for installation in a variety of systems and application contexts.

On the front, two LED indicators show the motor power supply presence and alarm status, with a simple flashing code system for easy diagnostics, providing clear and immediate status information, along with a built-in relay output for the changeover switch availability signal.

The hardware also includes a direct control handle and an optical port on the top of the motor group for firmware updates or PC connection via the Xpress software, allowing for monitoring and parameter settings. Additionally, there is a slot for connecting an optional expansion module (EXP type), which can equip the switch with two additional relay outputs with programmable functions or an RS485 communication port for control and diagnostics.

The optional RS485 port is a key feature of the GLCM changeover switches, providing an innovative and efficient alternative to traditional command with digital inputs. It allows control via a Modbus-RTU master device, reducing the number of connections within the panel. This saves on wiring for the three-position command outputs, feedback inputs, and the switch’s status output. It also reduces installation time and minimizes wiring errors, while allowing complete, continuous, and real-time monitoring of the switch’s status and quick identification of any functional or wiring anomalies, such as a cable break or an ongoing alarm. This ensures constant operability, which is critical for applications requiring uninterrupted power supply.

The GLCM motorised changeover switches are ideal for pairing with LOVATO Electric’s automatic transfer switch controllers ATL series or generator controllers RGK series. In the case of control via the optional RS485 port, in addition to the previously mentioned benefits, it is possible to monitor the switch status and any active alarms directly from the controller display.

Thanks to their versatility, compact design, and advanced features, GLCM motorized changeover switches offer an innovative solution for reliable and safe power supply management.

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
