ABB’s Symphony Plus SD Series Control & I/O Products: A Smart Automation Solution for Your New Installation, Upgrade or Expansion

The Symphony Plus SD (Symphony DIN) Series is a green portfolio of completely scalable control and I/O products that work in any environment or geographic location. Through seamless interconnections with smart field and electrical devices and higher-level applications, these rugged control and I/O products deliver lower energy consumption, an extreme operating temperature range, and a scalable architecture in a compact, modular footprint, making SD Series a smart automation solution for your new installation, upgrade or expansion.

Symphony Plus SD Series Control & I/O Products

SD Series Controllers

Powerful, scalable controller family for high-end (SPC800/HPC800), mid-range (SPC700) and small (SPC600/SPC700) applications from discrete and continuous, to batch and advanced control applications. Simultaneous support for SD Series, HR Series and S800 I/O subsystems. SD Series controllers communicate with S+ Operations, S+ Engineering and other higher-level applications via a high-speed, high-throughput, and high-security fast Ethernet-based redundant plant network.

SD Series I/O

Comprehensive set of traditional, intelligent HART IO and turbine specialty modules for integrated turbine control applications with system wide, channel selectable 1 msec SOE time stamping available. Redundant I/O options available for critical applications. Because of extreme operating condition design and location neutral engineering design, SD Series I/O is equally suited for local or remote I/O installations.

SD Series Rotating Machinery

Delivering cost-efficient and technologically advanced solutions for all turbine types, sizes and manufacturers for both retrofit and greenfield opportunities, these Symphony Plus SD Series turbine specialty modules eliminate the need for traditional “black box” turbine control.

SD Series Device Integration

Seamlessly integrates intelligent field devices and protocols using PROFIBUS DP, HART, Modbus TCP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104 and DNP 3.0.

By providing access to a wide range of intelligent field devices from both ABB and other third-party vendors, each device’s resident information is available for use in control strategies and higher-level applications to produce tighter, more reliable process control solutions and greater awareness to plant performance.

SD Series Soft Controller

Soft controller provides virtual environment for developing and testing of new control or modified control logic strategies. It uses the same control logic as physical SD Series controllers with tested results directly transferrable to the running system.

SD Series Packaging

Sleek DIN-rail mounted design, low power needs and streamlined vertical and horizontal mounting reduce control and I/O footprint. Possessing a wide operating temperature range and G3 coating, SD Series is equally suited for local or remote installations without requiring costly environment control equipment or specialty sealed cabinets.

HR Series / INFI 90 Support

True to ABB’s 35+ year commitment of “Evolution without obsolescence” life cycle policy, SD Series protects your investments in previous and current generation Harmony / INFI 90 rack control hardware, software and applications while providing you with new technology and functions.

Specifically:
SD Series controllers connect to existing rack I/O, seamlessly re-use previous generation control applications (without need for re-tuning or re-engineering), and preserve your control strategy documentation (by using the same S+ Engineering Composer control configuration tools).

SD Series I/O modules are compatible with the latest HR Series rack controllers allowing for easy remote I/O expansion opportunities in existing installations.

HR Series and SD Series control networks (INFI-Net and PN800 respectively) can be seamlessly connected making resident data on either network available for use in control applications, or for display in the other system.

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
