Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are self-navigating entities that dynamically move material through challenging environments, including narrow passages and peopled locations. Unlike traditional autonomously guided vehicles (AGVs), Omron AMRs require no facility modifications.
Imagine a bustling manufacturing plant where machines produce thousands of components every hour. The electrical cabinets buzz with energy, and a labyrinth of cables branches out to every corner, connecting motors large and small. In one corner stands a shiny new Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controlling a high-horsepower motor. Nearby, an experienced technician named Alex notices something on his handheld meter: a small current is flowing to the ground. At first, it might seem like no big deal, just a few milliamps. But is it dangerous? Or completely normal? This is the heart of the story, and it brings up a question that might be obvious to an experienced professional but still makes you think deeply: Why do we place so much emphasis on the small currents? Why do engineers and technicians, meticulously measure, analyze, and sometimes worry about these tiny currents that appear to do no harm? The reason, of course, is because these small currents can be indicators—indicators of normal operation, or signs of a potential problem that could cause serious safety issues. Welcome to the world of leakage current and ground faults in VFD systems. This article will explore these phenomena with a didactic approach, focusing on why they matter, how they behave, and what sets them apart, especially when looking at clean power VFDs. Whether you’ve spent decades in electrical systems or you’re just stepping into this specialized area, this exploration aims to reinforce the concepts and inspire you to dig deeper into the nuances of these tiny but critically important currents.
AutomationDirect has added more color choices for Direct Wire 1kV ALL-FLEX MTW/THHW heavy-duty flexible power cable. This extremely flexible large gauge (8AWG to 500MCM) single-conductor industrial cable is ideal for industrial control panel distribution, VFD power feeds, servo systems, and non-traditional industrial applications including uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and transformer wiring, battery chargers, and marine board applications.
Every story has a beginning. Welcome to the world of innovations and progress. Over 90 years of technological history, shaped by people with ideas, drive, and enthusiam – both in Blomberg and Bad Pyrmont, in Germany and around the world.
As electronic components become increasingly smaller and are positioned closer together in the enclosure, they become ever more sensitive to external factors such as dust, oil, and temperature.
In the world of mechanical systems, gearmotors are the workhorses, driving operations across various industries. Yet, their efficiency and longevity hinge on a crucial component often overlooked: lubricants. Understanding the role of lubricants, how to select them, and the importance of maintenance can significantly impact your gearmotor’s performance and lifespan. Lubricants in gearmotors serve several vital functions. They reduce friction between moving parts, minimize wear, protect against corrosion, and help dissipate heat.

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.
Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.

Convergix Automation Solutions has completed the acquisition of AGR Automation (“AGR”), a UK-based provider of custom, high-performance automation design and systems integration primarily to the life sciences industry.
Following Convergix’s acquisitions of JMP Solutions in August 2021 and Classic Design in February 2022, AGR marks the third investment in Crestview’s strategy to build Convergix into a diversified automation solutions provider targeting the global $500+ billion market, with a particular focus on the $70 billion global systems integration and connectivity segments. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Teck, Vertical Riser Teck, and AIRGUARD address distinct installation needs for industrial and vertical‑riser installations. Each product targets specific installation needs: Teck for general industrial feeders, Vertical Riser Teck for continuous vertical runs, and AIRGUARD to deliver high crush resistance and corrosion protection on long runs. Understanding the differences in application can help ensure the right cable is selected for the… Read More…

Fieldbuses once replaced bundles of wiring with shared, deterministic networks. For years, they carried control signals reliably and predictably. However, as equipment, sensors, and data systems proliferated, fieldbus limitations emerged. The central issue today is real-time operational visibility. Engineers need networks that move control data, diagnostics, and process information across the plant as reliably as… Read More…
