Contactron Speed Starter Provides New Device Class Between Motor Starters & Frequency Converters with a Particularly Intuitive Operation

The new speed starter in the Contactron series from Phoenix Contact is suitable for motors up to 7.5 kW and offers flexible speed control as well as high safety standards (SIL 3/PLe). Installation is quick and easy thanks to intuitive operation and simple wiring.

Integrated functions such as Safe Torque Off (STO) and optional EMC filters ensure efficiency and reliability in industrial applications. With the new speed starter, users now have an even more powerful solution at their disposal: The device supports motors up to 7.5 kW and impresses with its user-friendly operation and immediate stop of the energy supply to the motor. The speeds can be flexibly varied using the analog input, while up to four fixed speed levels ensure precise control.

The parameterizable ramps enable individually adjustable acceleration and deceleration behavior. A braking resistor must be connected for a power output of 4.0 kW or more. The speed starter from the Contactron series is optionally available with a built-in EMC filter, which enables interference-free operation in different environments. Suitable function blocks are also available in the PLCnext library.
