The addition of an AI-enabled virtual advisor as part of Emerson’s Ovation 4.0 Automation Platform delivers real-time insights to increase efficiency, detect anomalies, forecast maintenance issues and empower strategic decision-making. Emerson’s Ovation Virtual Advisor embeds localized GenAI to provide dynamic system guidance and contextual support. The new solution helps users quickly gain access to Ovation system documentation, perform troubleshooting, proactively address maintenance issues and uncover optimization opportunities – all through natural language interaction. Carlo Gavazzi: PAM03 – Photoelectric Amplifier – 3-Channel, Master/Slave

The Carlo Gavazzi PAM03 amplification module can operate alone, controlling 3 MOF… sensor sets. Up to 10 amplifiers can also be connected automatically in a master/slave setup via the built-in communication port sharing power and controlling up to 30 MOF… sensor sets. All connected MOF… sensors are multiplexed, eliminating crosstalk. Due to their signal strength, the combination of MOF… sensor sets and PAM03 amplifiers are suitable for environments with high amounts of dust or fog like automatic industrial doors, stone crushing conveyors, wood working machinery, car washes or other applications where a photoelectric sensor must work despite a build-up of dust and dirt or sense through fog, vapor or similar visibility hindrances. The Carlo Gavazzi photoelectric PAM03 amplifiers are available in a plastic (PC/ABS) IP20 approved housing material.

Designed to provide true buffering for 250 V applications with unpredictable voltage fluctuations, the 415 Series offers exceptional fault current protection in a compact SMD package, making it ideal for space-constrained applications. “This new fuse—our first with a high 1500 A interrupt rating at 277 V—provides electronic designers using legacy through-hole solutions with an option to switch to an SMD part,” said Daniel Wang, Senior Director of Product Management, Over Current–Passives, at Littelfuse. “By doing so, they can fully automate their assembly process, increasing production efficiency and reducing manufacturing costs.”

AF0500 Arc-Flash Relay Increases Electrical Safety in Machine Tool Manufacturing

For one of the company’s recent projects for a North American customer, Pietro Carnaghi asked its consultant firm, AC&E, to certify that a machine was in compliance with a new NFPA 70 rule. Recent updates to NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC) 240.87 include a requirement for an arc-energy reduction system where the overcurrent protection device installed in a circuit breaker is rated at 1,200 A or higher. There are different methods allowed by NEC to meet this requirement for reducing arc energy — one of these is the use of an energy-reducing active arc-flash mitigation system. In order to be fully compliant with this new requirement, Pietro Carnaghi contacted Littelfuse to inquire about an arc-flash relay as a possible solution.

Reducer Fuses can help achieve greater efficiency within a facility and are ideally suited for start-up or newly expanded manufacturing facilities that are ramping up production and electrical power demand. Upon approaching full capacity, the reduced rating Reducer Fuses can be readily replaced by higher standard rating fuses of the same body size, thus eliminating the need to replace the fuse panel.
