Selecting the Best Remote Access Solution for Your Application
In industrial environments, enclosures face not only dust and water ingress but also physical impacts that can compromise equipment. The IK rating system, defined by IEC 62262, provides a standardized way to measure an enclosure’s resistance to mechanical impact. The IK rating classifies the level of protection an enclosure offers against external mechanical impacts, expressed in joules (J). Each rating (from IK00 to IK10) represents a specific energy level the enclosure can withstand. For instance, IK06 indicates protection against 1 J of impact energy, while IK10 withstands up to 20 J.
This June the Pepperl+Fuchs road tour made its way through Ontario and Quebec, visiting several automation providers and manufacturing facilities. During one of the stops at a manufacturing facility in southern Ontario I was able to tour the mobile exhibit with Richard Krawczyk, Account Manager of Factory Automation in Canada.
Data centres are the backbone of the digital world. They serve as the foundation for various online activities like streaming, e-commerce, and website/app usage. In today’s tech-driven world, attention is actively captured by online activities, all of which heavily depend on data centres. The demand for storage and processing is skyrocketing, further propelling this growth is the rapid adoption of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data analytics. The Internet of Things (IoT), which connects the digital and physical worlds through a network of sensors, and the rollout of 5G networks for mobile devices will fuel the exponential growth of data centres.
New Murrelektronik data cables are high-flex shielded Ethernet Cat5e cables offering various connector styles, including D-coded M12 to M12, M12 to RJ45, RJ45 to RJ45, and M12 to pigtail.
Eaton announced a new report by S&P Global Market Intelligence 451 Research, commissioned by Eaton, that examines the extent of the skills gap and its implications for the machine building industry, as well as suggesting some mitigation measures. Machine builders in North America and Europe face unprecedented challenges as demand for increasingly complex industrial machinery rises, while the pool of skilled workers with expertise in machine-building continues to shrink. The report – called ‘The impact of the labor shortage on machine builders’ – is based on survey data obtained from 300 machine building experts in Canada, USA, Germany, Italy and The Netherlands.
Collaborative robots, or Cobots for short, can greatly enhance productivity and employee satisfaction by taking over dull, reparative, and dirty tasks that humans would rather not perform. Because these robots are designed to work safely around people, many manufacturers are under the impression that no further safety measures are needed. This is a misconception, however. Appropriate safety measures based on comprehensive risk assessments are still very important. In fact, safety is crucial to unlocking your cobot’s full range of capabilities and maximizing its performance, as this blog post will explain.

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.
Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
